MONTCLAIR, New Jersey (June 23, 2026) – Mountainside Medical Center has been recognized with the 2025 Antimicrobial Stewardship Honor Roll (ASHR) designation by the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) Communicable Disease Service, highlighting the hospital’s continued commitment to patient safety, responsible antimicrobial use, and the prevention of antimicrobial resistance.
The Antimicrobial Stewardship Honor Roll Program recognizes healthcare organizations throughout New Jersey that demonstrate excellence in antimicrobial stewardship practices. Facilities receiving this distinction have shown a strong commitment to optimizing antimicrobial use, advancing stewardship initiatives, supporting innovation, and contributing to statewide efforts aimed at combating antimicrobial resistance.
To qualify for the Honor Roll designation, healthcare facilities must demonstrate compliance with all seven CDC Core Elements of Antimicrobial Stewardship, including leadership commitment, accountability, pharmacy expertise, action, tracking, reporting, and education.
“This recognition reflects the dedication and collaboration of our antimicrobial stewardship team and clinical staff who work every day to ensure the safe and effective use of antimicrobial therapies,” said Valerie Allusson, M.D., Chief Medical Officer at Mountainside Medical Center. “Through evidence-based practices and continuous monitoring, we are improving patient outcomes while helping address the growing challenge of antimicrobial resistance.”
Mountainside Medical Center’s Antimicrobial Stewardship Program is led by Mona Nashed, PharmD, BCIDP, and Punit Gupta, M.D., who work closely with physicians, pharmacists, nurses, infection prevention specialists, and clinical teams throughout the organization to promote appropriate antimicrobial prescribing and monitoring practices.
Mountainside Medical Center remains committed to advancing patient safety, improving clinical outcomes, and supporting public health through innovative, evidence-based antimicrobial stewardship practices.
