The Infusion Center at Mountainside Medical Center offers the latest chemotherapy treatments, immunotherapy, hormone therapy, targeted therapy, supportive therapies, and other targeted therapies. Our infusion specialists provide compassionate outpatient IV therapy services with a focus on your safety and comfort while you’re being treated. Our highly experienced and specially trained nurses, physicians, and pharmacists collaborate to provide you with the best infusion treatment possible.

About Our Infusion Center

Infusion therapy is any medication dispensed through a needle or catheter. It is generally ordered when a patient’s condition cannot be treated well with a pill. Typically, “infusion therapy” means that a drug is administered directly into a vein, but the term may also refer to drugs that are given through other non-oral routes, such as injections.

When you arrive for an appointment at our Infusion Center, a nurse navigator will meet with you to review your care plan and answer any questions you may have. This nurse will regularly check on you throughout your infusion treatment to see how you feel. In addition, your assigned social worker will help you with any psychosocial needs you may have, and our nutritionist will help you manage your diet throughout care to help you feel as well as possible.

Our Infusion Center is carefully designed to optimize your comfort, with new private treatment areas where patients can watch TV, access wireless internet, or read. Snacks, drinks, lunches, and warm blankets are available upon request. We also offer valet parking.

What to Bring to Your Appointment

The following items may help you feel more comfortable during your infusion therapy appointment:

  • Entertainment — We have books and a television at our Infusion Therapy Center, but these items are limited. Consider bringing your own entertainment items, such as books, magazines, etc.
  • Hard candy — Sometimes treatment can cause chapped lips, and lip balm can help soothe them.
  • Hard candy — Some patients experience dry mouth with infusion therapy, so you might try ginger or lemon candies. These also help with any nausea you may feel.
  • Phone/tablet/laptop — You can bring your own personal devices. Don’t forget your charger and headphones!

Patients are allowed to have visitors at our Infusion Center. We also encourage you to have someone drive you to and from treatment in case you feel lethargic.
