Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center Announces New Community Board Member

MONTCLAIR, N.J. (January 5, 2026) – Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center is proud to announce the appointment of Mazin Khalid, M.D., FACC, FSCAI, to its Community Board of Trustees, effective January 2026.

Dr. Khalid brings extensive clinical expertise, leadership experience, and a deep commitment to community health to his new role. A highly respected interventional cardiologist, Dr. Khalid specializes in cardiology and interventional cardiology, with clinical interests that include coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease such as aortic and mitral valve stenosis, heart failure, heart rhythm disorders, and heart disease in pregnancy.

Since joining the Mountainside Medical Staff in 2023, Dr. Khalid has played a pivotal role in advancing the hospital’s chest pain program and strengthening community education and engagement initiatives. His efforts have contributed to improved cardiovascular awareness and access to high-quality cardiovascular care for residents of Montclair and the surrounding communities.

In addition to his clinical leadership at Mountainside, Dr. Khalid serves on the Board of Directors of the Sudanese American Physicians Association and is an Assistant Professor at the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Physicians and is fluent in both English and Arabic. His professional experience spans across Suda, Africa, Asia and the United States, equipping him with the cultural competence, resilience and perspective needed to effectively serve diverse patient populations.

Dr. Khalid earned his medical degree from the University of Gezira Faculty of Medicine in Wad Madani, Sudan. He completed his internal medicine residency at Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, where he also served on the Quality Committee in a leadership role representing Interfaith during the One Brooklyn Health system integration. He went on to complete a cardiovascular disease fellowship and an interventional cardiology fellowship at Maimonides Medical Center, where he served as Chief Cardiology Fellow and Chief Interventional Cardiology Fellow.
